TIM BURTON'S CHILDHOOD

Burton was born in 1958, in Burbank, California. He has 2 brothers Bill and Jean Burton. Most of his childhood was characterized by the representation, with his brother, of parodies related to bloody crimes, considering himself as an introvert.
One of his personal anecdotes is that he simulated a murder with an axe to frighten the neighbors to such an extent that one of them called the police. That is why he received the alias «Axe Wound»
One of his main entertainments was the design, aspect in which he demonstrated to have talent after competing and winning a competition of draw that would be used in the urban trucks of his native city.
Academically, he never felt an affinity for reading or for studies, whereas his greatest passions were painting, drawing and film. He loved the monster movies, mainly those related to Godzilla, Hammer Productions, Ray Harryhausen and Roger Corman. The latter worked on several occasions with the actor Vincent Price, whom Burton considered "his hero".
His neighbors classified him as a social misfit with a frequent appetite for science fiction and terror, due to his love of low-budget horror films. When he was 13, he made his first animated short film with some friends, The Island of Doctor Agor, followed by Houdini, where Burton played the escapist Harry Houdini.
After graduating from high school in 1976, he entered his second year at the California Institute of Art, founded by Walt Disney as an "alternative learning platform" for young people interested in animation. He made an animated series called Stalk of the Celery Monster, work that gave him the opportunity to be hired by Disney Studios to collaborate on upcoming films and projects.
